The Route and Timing
Most Southern California loads travel I-40 east to Tennessee, then I-81 north up the Shenandoah Valley and I-64 to Richmond and Hampton Roads. Northern Virginia deliveries continue on I-66. From the Bay Area, I-80 to I-70 is a common alternative. Expect around 2,600 to 2,800 driving miles depending on your pickup and destination.
